Detailed inspections of the building’s external wall system have indicated that a programme of upgrades to the materials used in the external wall system is needed.
This will involve removing some elements and replacing them with materials that comply with the government’s current building safety standards.
During the work scaffolding will be put up around the building. This is to allow our contractors to access the outside of the building. This should have a minimal effect on the residents inside the building.
It is likely that at some points in the programme, the entrance and exits from the building will need to be re-routed to allow the contractors to work safely. We will give residents plenty of notice when this happens and provide guidance and signage.
Working with ESP and their contractors, we will do our best to make sure that the improvement works will not affect your use and enjoyment of both the accommodation and facilities at Applegate. While some disturbance is likely while the works are carried out, our onsite team will ensure that any disruption is kept to a minimum.
While this work is happening, we have arranged a range of additional safety precautions for the building.
These include increased safety patrols by our staff 24/7, specific fire precautions for the contractors and a full evacuation procedure should the smoke alarm be activated.
Presentations and updates will be made to residents about the ongoing works periodically to keep everyone informed.
