Works starting June 2025 to Sept 2025
Detailed inspections of the building’s external wall system have indicated that a programme of upgrades to some localised materials used in the external wall system and balconies is needed.
This will involve removing some elements and replacing them with materials that comply with the government’s current building safety standards.
During the work scaffolding will be put up around the building. This is to allow our contractors to access the outside of the building.
Support for the student wellbeing, management and welfare will be undertaken via ESP student liaison services and ESP resident engagement strategy.
The works will be undertaken over the summer holiday period in 2025, during which the building will be unoccupied. This means residents will not be affected in by the works programme. However you may notice some increased activity in preparation towards the end of the summer term, along with any advanced warning to the changes in evacuation procedures.
While this work is happening, we have arranged a range of additional safety precautions for the building.
These include increased safety patrols by our staff 24/7, specific fire precautions for the contractors and a full evacuation procedure should the smoke alarm be activated.
